Best Places for Dinner Beyond Downtown Paso Robles

The Paso Robles bar/restaurant scene has been super busy in the last several months. Lots of people find themselves downtown, desperately trying to find a place to eat on Friday or Saturday night with few options. Here is my list of top 5 local spots you should check out beyond Downtown Paso.

Oysters at the Paso Robles Wine Merchant

Paso Robles Wine Merchant

Can you say oysters! One of the newest spots in town is located in the Paso Market Walk, this treasure should not be missed. From the large cases of local and sustainable wines to the amazing grilled cheese, they are amazing. Don’t be surprised if you make fast friends with a local wine maker over a glass of Thacher Valdiguié.

McPhee’s Grill

Talk about an amazing place just outside of Paso. This establishment has been around for many moons, and the menu is full of great, local options. The vibe is fine dining meets saloon. If you get a chance to eat there, start with the warm goat cheese with roasted garlic, and order Rib Eye. I recommend splitting a meal since the portions are healthy.

Cello Ristorante

Located inside the Allegretto Resort, this place has everything you need for a fine dining experience. Get there early, order a cocktail and walk around the grounds of the Allegretto to soak in the beautiful architecture and the hidden chapel. Afterwards, order the chef’s special which promises not to disappoint.

This iconic spot is located in the small town, hidden gem of Creston (a town neighboring Paso). The food is on point, from the salads to the steaks. Don’t forget to order the fresh baked bread! I typically take it home to make french toast in the morning.

Pier 46 in Templeton a hidden gem

Pier 46 Seafood Market

Located in Templeton, this spot is a great place if you want some seafood without the wait. The seafood is great and the outside patio is a great place to hang out on the long summer nights. Make sure to try out the fish tacos.
